96Down Update Client
96Down Update Client is the client plugin installed on customer sites to connect WordPress plugin updates to the 96Down update platform.
What it does
- Connects the site to the 96Down update server
- Validates the customer’s license key
- Checks for managed plugin updates
- Injects available updates into the native WordPress plugin update flow
- Downloads update packages through the 96Down-managed secure package flow
Requirements
- WordPress 7.0 or higher
- PHP 8.1 or higher
- A valid 96Down license key
Installation
- Upload and activate the plugin on the customer site.
- Open 96Down Update Client in the WordPress admin menu.
- Enter the following:
- Server URL: the 96Down update server URL
- License Key: the customer’s assigned license key
- Click Save Settings.
- Confirm that:
- Server Connection shows OK
- License Status shows active
How customers use it
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Save the correct Server URL and License Key.
- Use the normal WordPress update screens:
- Dashboard -> Updates
- Plugins
- When a managed plugin has a newer version on 96Down, WordPress will show the update notice.
- Clicking Update now will download and install the managed package through the 96Down update flow.
Notes
- This client currently manages plugin updates.
- Theme updates are not included in this release.
- A valid license key is required for managed update access.
